Mama Needs A Break
Motherhood is tough, but balancing a life outside of motherhood is even tougher. If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I love Clark and Stone dearly. However, they have loads of energy that I just can’t keep up with. So, when I got the opportunity to visit Kohler Water Spa in Kohler, Wisconsin, I jumped at the chance for a little rest and recreation with a few blogger mamas—Carla Jian, Andrea Levoff, Erica Eckman, Kate Lemere and Tail Kogan. They were the perfect group.
If you see me on Instagram, especially on my Insta Stories, you’ve had a chance to see how I manage to squeeze every minute of the day into my schedule. I am busy with this blog and with my boys. Don’t get me wrong, I love it. However, there are times when I am wiped out. I mean, seriously. The other day I fell asleep on the sofa in the middle of the afternoon and couldn’t tell you how or when it happened. I have succumbed to the fact that I can’t do everything all the time. Mama needs a break.
Kohler Water Spa
If you live in the Midwest, there are plenty of amazing things about living here. One of those amazing things is Kohler Water Spa in Kohler, Wisconsin. This place is heavenly. I mean absolutely amazing. Two and a half hours away from Chicago is a spa oasis for rest and recreation. Nestled on the grounds of The American Club—a five star, five diamond full-service resort hotel. Adjacent to The American Club, The Carriage House is where Kohler Water Spa calls home.
My room was inside the Carriage House and it was pure heaven. The Carriage House is an adults only building that has direct access to Kohler Water Spa. The Immersion Suite, which is where I stayed, comes with a king size bed, wet bar, and state-of-the-art Kohler bath and shower features. It is also the size of a city apartment and I wasn’t mad about it. My room was also stocked with Kohler Chocolates. If you want a little taste of heaven, I highly recommend you stop by the chocolate shop while you’re there during your stay.
Rest
I booked the Uniquely Yours Signature Massage while I was there. This massage allows you to choose the type of massage in addition to any add-ons. I opted for the Himalayan Salt Stone Rocks to add to my massage for an hour. It was amazing. I really enjoyed the massage in addition to the oils that were used during my service. I loved how my therapist gave product recommendations after the spa service, too.
The other cool part about the spa is the water therapy. You can relax by the pool before and/or after your service or you can choose the steam room or sauna. There are several relaxation rooms throughout the spa if you want to just take a break.
Recreation
It’s no secret how much I love food. Working out keeps my weight in check because otherwise, I would wear a completely different size. I am that person that tries to work out at least once while on vacation because I like to eat so much. And there are plenty of options at the resort to peak your interest.
My top two choices were Bold Cycle and Yoga On The Lake. My dear friend, Carla Jian, actually taught the Yoga Sculpt one morning and kicked my butt. Although, I also enjoyed Vinyasa 2 Wednesday evening. As for Bold Cycle, it’s an indoor cycling studio guaranteed to help you torch a ton of calories. They both also have super cute athleisure brands available for purchase like Koral, Alō, and GoldSheep. Training and shopping are my favorite pastimes.
Trap Shooting
Trap shooting is something that I’ve always wanted to do. Needless to say, I was over the moon when I got the chance to do it at Kohler. Who doesn’t want to shoot clay targets at varying heights in the air? We all tried it, however not all were successful. Kudos to Kate and Erica for making contact with their target.
Dining
Kohler Water Cafe was our first stop after checking in for lunch. I had a lovely salad with chicken. It met all of my dietary restrictions along with these rice crackers that I could eat every day. It was a great start to my stay.
Next, we headed to Black Wolf Run for dinner. Here is where I think I ate everything under the sun. We ordered a charcuterie board, scallops and pepperoni appetizers as well as corn sausage chowder and grilled salmon. As if dinner wasn’t enough, we dove right into desserts. It was a sweet ending to a sweet day.
Cucina is a super cute Italian restaurant inside The Shops at Woodlake. Cucina features wood fire grilled entrees and an awesome raw bar. Erica ordered the Cacio E Pepe and we all drooled over it until we ordered a second one. It was that good.
Self Care
Here’s the thing. It doesn’t matter if you’re male or female. You have to take care of yourself. A getaway to Kohler Water Spa was exactly what I needed for rest and recreation. Don’t feel guilty. Make the time and take the time for yourself. You need it and deserve it.
