If you’ve been around here for any amount of time, you know I am truly a fashion girl at heart. I have loved fashion my whole life and have been lucky enough to work in the modeling industry once upon a time. When I became a mom, I turned to fashion as my creative outlet. It was my way of expressing my personality and having a way to do something for me that didn’t involve Clark or Stone. I talk a lot about this in my Motherhood section, so if you’re a mom, definitely go check that out.
Anyway, back to fashion. Even though I’m a lover of luxury brands like DVF, Chanel, Givenchy, etc., I still love a good bargain. Over the years I’ve learned to mix and match high/low items in my wardrobe and I have some favorites and a few tips for when it might be a good idea to go one way or the other. I hope this helps anyone looking to invest in staples, but also maybe save in other places.
A wool Coat
This is a place where I would recommend investing in something on the higher end. Wool coats are something you keep for years and years, so instead of spending a couple hundred dollars several times, invest a bit more just one time if you can.

Puffer Coat
Here’s my logic with puffer coats: Buy a high end one in a neutral color like black or tan and then if you want to try something more trendy, do it with a lower-priced brand like H&M or Asos.

Boots
I’m a firm believer in having a few good pairs of boots in your closet at all times. You should always have those go-to pairs, you know? For me, Paris Texas is that brand. They’re simply the best. But that’s not to say you can’t find more affordable options. The first place I usually check is And Other Stories.

Blazer
I love a good blazer moment and there are so many great affordable options. I love my Nili Lotan, but I’m equally as obsessed with some H&M ones I also have hanging in my closet.

Kitten Heels
These old knees can’t mess around with stilettos anymore, so now I love having a few good pairs of kitten heels. I love The Rowe for these but you can find really cute, more affordable options at quite a few places too.

Crossbody Bag
When you’re a handbag lover, you have to have at least a few luxury options in your closet. For me, when it comes to crossbodies, I love Givenchy. But if you’re only using it when you go out with the girls or want to try something really trendy, I say go the affordable route.

Slip Dress
Slip dresses are really trendy right now, but I say they’re always in style. Nili Lotan makes a really good one, as does Reformation but I’ve also seen some at H&M that are great too.

Jeans
I love designer jeans, but I will always be a J.Crew girl at heart when it comes to denim. They have always been my tried and true favorites throughout the years, but of course I linked some amazing high-end options too.
