Now that Chicago weather is finally starting to act like it’s supposed to, I can tell you about a tried and true favorite of mine. Denim. Denim is reliable, always in style and keeps you warm when the temps start to drop. It’s a classic closet staple for me.
I could go on and on and give you a very long list for the best jeans (like this pair or this pair) in my closet. Instead, though, I’m going to talk to you about other ways to wear denim and some of the trends I’ve seen lately.
My Go-To Jean Jacket
I’ve never been so happy to see the jean jacket style back. It was my go-to back in the spring and now it is once again. One of the best things about it is just being able to throw it on in the morning, afternoon or evening. It can be casual or a little more sophisticated with the right accessories.
The jacket I’m wearing here is by ASOS and I love it. I paired it with this amazing bright orange sweater from [insert store]. Doesn’t this just scream fall? I think so. The pants add a little extra flare (get it?) to the look because of their cut at the bottom. I really wanted to play up the hem, so I wore these booties from Rebecca Minkoff, which I also wore in this post.
Denim Trends
There are a few stand-out trends in the world of denim that have caught my attention lately. One of them is patchwork. I love the mixing and matching of different colors and styles of jean. You can see what patchwork looks like in my jacket. The only thing that would make it better is if it also had the second trend — embellishments. Adding fun details like beadwork, stitching and patches is also super cool right now.
In fact, one of my favorite outfits of the summer was a denim shorts look with patches. You can check out that post here.
This jean jacket look is so easy to achieve and casual enough to run errands throughout the day with just a little bit of added style. My saying is, when in doubt, wear denim.
