I can’t believe the second month of 2018 is almost over. The weather has been off and on. Winter fashion can be tough especially if it’s cold. I like to be fashionable, but I also like to be warm. Needless to say, when the socks and shoes trend began, I was all over it. It’s like a perfect marriage for fashion. I’m always cold but I love a good “fashion” moment, too. I also love that styling shoes and socks is season-less. If you’re up for it, I will share how to style socks and shoes for your next fashion moment.
Socks and Shoes
This trend is not for the faint of heart. However, it is a trend that’s for everyone. In terms of high fashion, you mainly see socks with sandals or high heels on the runway or street style. Although, you can make a statement with this trend casually as well. Fun socks look super cute with slides, loafers and tennis shoes.
I had a thing for socks long before it became a thing. It was while living in Milan that I fell in love with hosiery. There is literally a hosiery store on like every other corner. Initially, tights were my thing, but I saw one girl walking by Cathedral Duomo with socks and sandals and it was love at first sight. It totally takes a humdrum look over the top. I just love socks and shoes and I love having fun with fashion. I hope this trend never goes away.
Notorious B.I.G.
Okay, so you know by now this is a look for me. With this look, I can show you how to style socks and shoes. I discovered Stance at Neiman Marcus on Michigan Avenue. I had to have them. I am a die hard hip hop fan so I could’t resist. I mean, nothing haunts you like the things you didn’t buy. Am I right?
I went on a wild google chase to finally nail down a pair of the Stance socks with Notorious B.I.G. Once I found them, immediately I thought of how to style them. I got this gorgeous white shirt from Sandro Paris and my skirt, DVF. I love a crisp white shirt as well as a strong black and white look. It was perfect for such a statement sock. I love the red and tan coloring on the socks. The crown won me over right away. The neutral coloring of the top and the skirt compliments the bold colors in the socks. A neutral strappy sandal with my socks completes the look. My oldie but goodie Chanel bag adds a nice whimsical touch.
Get excited to style your socks and shoes for your next look. It’s a lot of fun. I have linked a few of my favorite socks so you can make this trend your own.
