Women have been borrowing style trends from men for a while. Menswear has always been a fave of mine. I just love a man in a nice suit. I love the patterns in the fabric used for men’s suits. In particular, houndstooth. Houndstooth is a two-toned pattern that looks like dog teeth. It’s the epitome of a classic men’s suit. Needless to stay, when I got the chance to style this
Ralph Lauren tweed houndstooth suit, I was definitely up for the challenge. Keep reading to see how I styled a menswear-inspired look for fall.
Borrowing from the Boys
I love a well-tailored look especially when it involves a suit. This brown tweed houndstooth suit offers the perfect twist to a men’s traditional suit. It offers a miniskirt instead of trousers. I love mini skirts in the fall to wear with my favorite combo—socks and shoes. Miniskirts also pair well with knee-high boots in the fall and winter seasons. The boyfriend blazer of this suit also pairs well with jeans or the houndstooth belted tweed trousers that Ralph Lauren offers. You simply have tons of options for this classic suit.
Styling this suit was so much fun. I styled it with a Ralph Lauren white cotton shirt with embroidered cuffs and puff sleeves. This shirt also pairs well with just the mini skirt minus the jacket. I love a crisp white shirt and there is nothing basic about it. You can wear this shirt with jeans and little side booties for lunch with your girlfriends. Or, pair it with a denim miniskirt and over the knee boots for a girls’ night out.
Berets are my fall and winter must-have accessory. When I found this pale pink number from J.Crew, I had to have it. I just love berets for everything. Be it a bad hair day or a little pop of color, they are perfect for any look. Also, consider a red beret with this look. I just love red and brown together. It’s so chic.
Shoes and socks are my jam. I had a moment when I discovered the Hysteria by Happy Socks pink and tan pair and I was a happy camper. The pink and tan color combination was exactly what I needed to pull this look together. It was a look for the books after pairing them with a pair of leopard pumps with a chunky heel. Completely on trend with the print of the season—leopard.
I knew I would have so much fun styling this suit and I did. I wanted the look to be both feminine and masculine. The pink furry backpack is the cherry on top. How much fun is this backpack? You can’t get more feminine than a pink backpack.
How would you style a menswear-inspired suit? There are endless possibilities. I’m a huge Ralph Lauren fan and I found a ton of options for this suit. I hope you like my selections below.
