I recently hosted the launch of J.Crew Crewcuts with Clark and Stone at the 900 North Michigan store. The boys individually selected their own looks for the event, which was so much fun for me to watch them do. In recent blog posts, they have also worn several looks from Lola and The Boys.  And last week, we took a trip over to Windy City Bebe and got several super cool pieces for back to school. It got me to thinking! Back-to-school is right around the corner for Clark and Stone. This is the time when mamas are scurrying around to prepare their little ones for their first day back. What to wear is just as important as the first day itself because all moms want that perfect photo. So, I decided to share some of my favorite kid’s clothing lines as we all prepare for the new school year.

Favorite Kid’s Clothing Lines

J.Crew

First, it’s no secret that I love J.Crew. Personally, it has been my tried and true destination since high school, so of course, I had to pass the torch to my boys. Crewcuts has the best stuff for boys and girls, plus Clark and Stone love it.

I have purchased bowties from J.Crew since the boys were babies because they are adjustable. Once, Clark (my oldest) was a toddler, he lived in button downs and bowties. Stone as well. Now that they don’t allow me to run the style show, they pick out their looks. Clark recently selected the coolest light blue monster tie from the Crewcuts line and Stone chose camouflage neon green New Balance shoes. They have velcro straps too — this is always perfect for the littles that don’t know how to tie their shoes yet. Clark got super cute graphic tees, shorts, and button downs too, all perfect for back to school. Most of what we got will also transition quite nicely into fall.

Lola and The Boys

Lola and The Boys is a local Chicago line that offers boys, girls, and women’s clothing. I love the bright colors and fun prints they offer for the boys. I also really love the fashion forward looks for less. Our recent buys were superhero hoodies, comic book tees, and I secured a green metallic butterfly sweater that is stunning. Lola and The Boys offers many options to coordinate with moms for girls and boys — I’ve worn several of these looks with Clark and Stone from this line.

H&M

H&M has the coolest boys and girls fashion. I’m quite surprised at how many people aren’t aware of their kids collections. Jeans, jackets, shoes, and sweats, are mostly what I buy for Clark and Stone at H&M. They always have the coolest jeans — skinny jeans are my top purchase for the boys here. Sweats as well for all seasons. I love their sweatpants for fall and winter and even the sweatpant shorts for summer. They also have really cool jackets for boys and offer coupons for even bigger savings. They will send random emails for up to 25% off, so definitely sign up if you haven’t. I live for a good deal.

Honorable Mentions

In addition to the previous labels mentioned, I also prefer Joah Love, La Miniatura, Tucker and Tate, Old Navy, Baby Gap, Zara, Cat and Jack, Nununu (I love hipster looks for boys), Supra (fresh kicks ), Adidas Originals,  Appaman, IKKS, Mini Boden, Psycho Bunny, and Nike.  Nike is the only brand they wear for basketball.  They love the swoosh sign.  Of course, because I have boys, most of my faves listed are from my perspective. However, all these brands carry super cute girls clothes as well.

A few of my favorite online destinations for kids clothes are Gilt and Melijoe. You gotta love a one stop shop destination — Gilt offers home, local city deals, children’s, men and women’s. Melijoe also offers home and design.

For Clark and Stone, school starts September 6th so I still have a few things to get. If your kids are already back in school, check out my kid’s clothing recommendations to shop during the school year. Or, even pick up a few things for yourself — you’re going back to school as well — at least for drop off and pick up.

Ceta — you should check out Maisonette, created by Vogue special projects director Sylvana Ward Durrett. It’s a curation of all sorts of brands. I love it!
