When people ask me what I love most about myself I always say my smile. It’s the one thing about myself that I love because it shows my happy, bubbly, funny side of who I am. So, when I got the email for an opportunity to fix my smile I jumped at the chance. I am going to answer the five Ws for you with this post—who are the dentists behind SmileCycle, what is SmileCycle, where can I go if I want to get it, when can you begin, why I chose to get it, and how much does it cost. I’m going to tell you everything you’ve ever wanted to know about Invisalign.
SmileCycle
Dentologie
Dr. Mohiuddin, Dr.Founas, and Dr. Kurdi opened Dentologie about five years ago. Dentologie offers a wide variety of dental services ranging from general cleanings, whitening, implants, and Invisalign in a warm and welcoming environment. It feels like home when you enter and when you leave. Seriously, I feel like I’ve known the whole staff for years and it’s only been a few months. Your dentist office should be sterile but your experience shouldn’t be.
SmileCycle was created as a cost-efficient and time effective alternative to the traditional Invisalign process. Many patients were frustrated with the timeliness of the process which averages about 12 months and the price which can range from $3,500-$8,000. The Dentologie team, along with modern technology and the core value of their office, which is customer service, created SmileCycle and the rest is history.
Fix My Teeth
How does it work? I know that’s your question. I’m getting to that. I went in to meet with
Dr. M (Mohiuddin) and he told me about the SmileCycle process. After he explained the process to me, I got a 3-D scan of my teeth which was completed in about two weeks. I then received an email with my personalized treatment plan. After that, the South Loop office scheduled a follow-up meeting with Dr. M to go over my treatment plan in person and to answer any of my questions.
For me personally, my treatment plan is a little complex, but I am still able to get SmileCycle and not traditional braces. My top teeth have started to space over the years creating little gaps between my front teeth. However, my bottom teeth started to shift due to a tooth missing in the back. And I would have to straighten my teeth before I could get a bridge to replace that missing tooth. While discussing my treatment plan, Dr. M also gave me the option to keep or close my signature gap that I’ve had between my two front teeth all my life. I chose to close it. Change is a good thing. Needless to say, SmileCycle is ideal for me.
Costs
Previously, I mentioned the range of traditional Invisalign can be pretty steep. SmileCycle offers you a 3-D scan, 2 cycles of 14 aligners for your teeth, final retainers, a whitening syringe for your teeth during the process (huge bonus), and virtual consultations. They also offer flexibility for payment. You can pay one total price of $2500 or $99/a month with a $300 down payment subject to third party approval. Cool, right?
Why Did I Choose SmileCycle
As mentioned earlier, my shifting teeth and missing tooth was what sparked my initial interest in Invisalign. Although I have been blogging for almost two years and now my smile is as much a part of my business as my writing, it just made sense for me.
I must say, it hasn’t been a big deal. No one really knows I have it until I point it out. I have this funny little lisp when I first change the trays on Tuesday mornings where I sound like Mike Tyson’s little sister (sorry Mike). Otherwise, no one has a clue. Maybe everyone is being nice but they also say they don’t hear my little Tyson moments.
I am approaching week four of wearing my aligners and it’s been a breeze. I have brushed and flossed my teeth more in the past four weeks than I did as a teenager. It also offers a bit of accountability for me with my stress snacking. I am a sucker for a snack, especially for sweets. As my friend Ellen says, make sure what you’re eating is worth it because now I have to brush and floss every time after I eat. Water is the only thing you can have while your aligners are in.
Now that I’m about four weeks into my SmileCycle process, I have to say it’s been amazing. I have a little case to keep my aligners in while I’m out and I found a little travel toothbrush and floss set to carry even in my tiniest of bags. And I have a make-up sized bag to take with me on my travel destinations.
Clark and Stone get a kick out of seeing my braces. They’re so intrigued with how they stay on my teeth. You can’t even see the clear attachments—it’s so inconspicuous. Also, I have shared with so many friends that I have it only to learn they are also patients of Dr. M and they love it as well.
Did I also share Dr. M, along with the other dentists, will give you their personal email and phone number to answer any questions/concerns you may have? This place is like customer service on steroids. I couldn’t even get that from my sons’ pediatrician, especially during the infant months when I was a mess. Lol.
Next Steps
Now that you know all about it, let me share with you what to do so you can get started. Contact Dentologie at either their South Loop or their Streeterville offices and schedule an appointment.
You are well on your way to living your best life. Self-care is so important and feeling good about how you look is equally important. Sooner than I can imagine, I’m going to be the girl with nice straight teeth. That can be you too.
