If there’s one trend I’m happy is making a comeback, it’s the denim skirt. I absolutely love denim, so this is right up my alley. If skirts aren’t for you, I did also just write about styling denim shorts. You can find that post here. Anywho, I’m so excited about this trend and to share my favorite way to style it.
Creating The Look
I love everything about this skirt from 3.1 Phillip Lim. I picked it up a little while ago and knew I had to write a post about it. The seams and zipper detail create some visual interest and make it stand out. If you’ve been searching for your next girl’s night out ensemble, this is definitely it! It’s high waisted, so I went with a tucked in look. This adds a little bit of elegance, but is still very sexy.
Because the skirt has a lot going on by itself, you can easily where it with a basic top or even a graphic tee for a more casual look. I wanted to create more of a sexy, nightlife vibe, though, so I went all out with this For Love and Lemons pink sheer blouse. Isn’t it fabulous? The pattern, the ruffles, the color — it’s all perfect. I topped it off with simple, but chunky necklace from J.Crew. Because the top is so bold, I kept the jewelry a little more relaxed.
Now for the shoes — I’m 100% a shoe lover, so I always enjoy topping off an outfit with the perfect heel or flat. As much as I love a good stiletto, I can’t quite where them like I used to, so this pair from Isabel Marant was the perfect find for this look. I knew I needed to find a heel that would work for me, though, because of the feminine, sexy style I was going for and these have a lower, chunky heel, making it much easier on the knees. I probably sound so old. Lol.
The bag is [brand name] and it’s one of my go-to’s when I need a stylish cross body for a night out with my husband or the girls. It’s black and it has fringe, so you really can’t go wrong.
If you were’t sure about denim skirts before, I hope you are now!
