Welcome to Clark and Stone! I’m Ceta Walters and I live in Chicago with my two sons, Clark (8) and Stone (6). This is a space where my love for fashion, travel and motherhood comes to play in my day-to-day.
I launched this blog because I lost my sense of self in the day-to-day of motherhood. I was so busy taking care of everyone in my household and I always put myself last. It even got to the point where I was beginning to build resentment towards my husband and kids because they were living their best life with me as their assistant.
This is when I realized I needed to start putting myself first. It sounds selfish as a woman because we put everyone before ourselves. We are caretakers by nature. But it’s necessary to put yourself first so you can be your best self for your family. It’s like what they tell you on the airplane—you have to place the oxygen mask on yourself first before you can take care of the person next to you. This blog is my “oxygen mask”. It gives me a life outside of motherhood. It feeds my soul.
Through this blog, I’ve learned there is enough space for me and my sons. I still struggle with mom guilt when I put myself first, but I’m much more aware of the consequences when I don’t. I want my boys to be resilient and independent. And I know if they continued to see me drop everything for them, they would want their wife to do the same. I can’t have that on my conscience.
This blog also teaches Clark and Stone that it’s never too late to follow your dreams. That it’s OK to try something you know nothing about. That it’s OK to create a new life for yourself. And most importantly, to never settle for status quo.
This blog is all about showcasing the things I love. The things that keep me going and finding balance outside of being a mother to Clark and Stone. You will discover my current style obsessions for both me, Clark and Stone and my personal travel destinations for me and my family. You will also find posts specifically related to my daily life as a mom and some featuring my favorite city—Chicago.
